Good news for truck drivers traveling with man's best friend!
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is easing new regulations on dog importation. With these changes, which take effect in August, dogs entering the U.S. from countries that are dog rabies-free or low risk will be required only to “appear healthy” and to be accompanied by a CDC Dog Import Form receipt.
Those changes do away with some of the requirements announced by the agency in May. Under the original proposal, all dogs entering the U.S. from other countries would need to be at least 6 months old and have a microchip, in addition to having the completed import form.
